Hi friends, travelers, wanderers, do-gooders, food-lovers, and everyone else!
In a beautiful world that we want to take care of, but in which we also want to live life to the fullest, balance is key. Balance in relation to yourself, your social circle and your environment. Balance in order to navigate the difficult task of caring for others and for your surroundings, without forgetting to care for yourself.
I’m Kirsten: a traveller at heart, with a passion for sustainability. Can we take care of Mother Earth while also satisfying the urge to travel? This question has inspired me to start a journey into sustainable travel and mindful living. A journey in which I will try to find a balance between doing what I love and love for the beautiful planet that enables that. This blog (Kircularity = Kirsten + circularity) has come into existence as a way to document my journey, hopefully share some useful information along the way. Most of all I hope to inspire you towards your own journey to unite sustainabillity with doing what you love, while learning from your findings in the comments. Let’s make the world a better place together!
My story

It’s already been some years since I was running a moderately-successful travel blog. This blog started at age 18, when instead of going to university after finishing high school, I went to Australia.
To keep my friends updated and my parents a little less worried, I started sharing my adventure on waarbenjij.nu, a platform for travellers.
Experiencing the limits of this platform, my stories soon moved to my own blog on WordPress, attracting more followers than just the friends and family I had intitially set it up for. I left Australia after a year, because my working holiday visa expired, and I had been convinced to start university after all. But the travel bug never left, and I hitchhiked large parts of Europe and travelled to Asia next to my studies. The blog continued, and got a bit out of hand. I decided to focus on my studies for the time being, and shut down my blog.
Fast forward more than 10(!) years, I finished a bachelor’s and master’s degree and work at an engineering firm. Exploring the world is still high on my priority list, but now I would like to combine it with my other passion of living green and sustainable. And instead of next to uni, let’s see how it goes next to a job.
What to expect
In order to bring attention to sustainability in a positive way, this blog will be focussed on all the things we can enjoy while being conscious about our planet. Main themes will be slow travel and vegan food, but also expect some lifestyle content about topics such as consuming less, repairing what you own, shopping vintage, DIY, share-economy, bookswapping, community-building and growing your own vegetables. Get inspired to start your own journey!
